We get to know NHL players with some quick questions. Today's subject: Colby Armstrong of the Atlanta Thrashers who are attempting to keep pace in the highly competitive Eastern Conference.

What is your earliest hockey memory?

Probably when I was younger I got a pair of goalie pads from my grandfather for Christmas, and just playing with my brother down in our basement. I don't even know if I was in regular hockey at that time, but just mostly off the ice, playing street hockey and road hockey with my brother.

You said you received goalie pads, does that mean you started off as a goalie?

No, no I just put the pads on my brother and shot pucks at him. You know how little brothers are.

What's your favorite thing about playing in the NHL, and your least favorite thing about playing in the NHL?

Favorite thing about playing would have to be, obviously, if we do travel we get to fly everywhere so we get treated pretty good. That's kind of a neat perk about it, flying on our personal planes, or our own charters. As for least favorite thing ... (pause) ... you know what? I'm not sure. I don't know if there is one. I haven't found anything I don't like about it yet (laughs).

You've been known to dish out some pretty big hits from time to time, if you could pick one player in the NHL you would like to get with a good, solid clean hit, who would you pick?

Oh man ... (pause)

Don't be afraid to be honest.

Oh no, I will be. I'm just thinking about who I'd like to crush ... how about Matt Cooke.

Do you have any hidden talents away from hockey? Anything you would like to be doing if you weren't in the NHL?

Not really, I don't think I'm that good at anything else. If I could pick something that I'd like to be really good at I'd like to be a singer in a band or something, but I don't have any talents like that to do it.

Speaking of your musical interests, if I remember correctly from your Pittsburgh days you were a big Linkin Park fan, what's floating around on your iPod these days?

In the dressing room here we kind of listen to a lot of dance music but my iPod has been out of commission lately. I've just been listening to a lot of satellite radio in the car so I flip around to a lot of different channels. I'm not a real big hater on anything, I like it all.

OK, one last quick question, a hockey-related question. You guys are off to a pretty solid start this season, what do you think your chances are to catch up to the Capitals for the Southeast Division title?

Yeah, I think we're a few games back right now, so if we can make up those games and get some points on them I like our chances. I think we're playing some good hockey, we've gotten better as the season has gone on with the exception of a few games. But other than that it's been pretty exciting for us here lately. Hopefully we can keep surging and be where we want to be.
