Fight of the Week: So Much For the Holiday Spirit

Every Friday, FanHouse sifts through the rubble and picks the best NHL fight, with the help of HockeyFights.com.

Yes, Thursday was Thanksgiving, but the start of the holiday season didn't stop guys from dropping the gloves. We had heavyweights, middleweights, and guys who probably shouldn't make a habit out of fighting. Why get so angry during what is supposed to be such a festive time? Well, maybe it was too much food, or issues with the in-laws visiting. Perhaps guys are stressing about Black Friday.

Who Did You Just Say Was Fighting: Deryk Engelland vs. Evander Kane

Yes, we're talking about that Evander Kane. Barely an adult, first-round draft pick, and a guy in his first season of professional hockey.

Looks on the video like the two got tangled up behind the net, and Engelland took exception to Kane being in his kitchen. This is hardly a great fight. Actually, Engelland pretty much took advantage of an obviously shell-shocked Kane. That said, it's newsworthy because Evander Kane shouldn't be fighting.

Fists of the Week: Tim Gleason vs. Brenden Morrow

Nice win here for Morrow, who (by unofficial count) landed nine punches in less than five seconds to close out the fight. Watch the video here.

Runner-Up: Cam Janssen vs. Krys Barch

Familiar names here, and another good fight. Barch and Janssen obviously didn't agree about what spicing should be used for the turkey, and they hammered out their differences on each other's faces. You can watch it here.

Win of the Week: Brian McGrattan vs. George Parros

This was already a good fight before McGrattan connected. Parros is a bigger guy with longer arms, and he has plenty of fighting experience in the NHL. In the end, he was no match for the rock-solid McGrattan. Watch the way he ends the fight, and you'll see why he's becoming one of the league's more feared fighters.

Fight of the Week: Jared Boll vs. Aaron Voros

You have to hand it to Boll. Just two days earlier, he was speared in the crotch by Nashville's Wade Belak. Not only was he playing Monday night at the Garden, but Boll didn't shy away from a fight against Voros, who is pretty good with the fists. Boll and Voros easily combined for the most entertaining fight of the week.
