Steven Upsher-Chambers Goes After 17th Straight Win

Steven Upsher-Chambers, the younger brother of heavyweight contender "Fast" Eddie Chambers, will put his 16-bout winning streak on the line next Friday, Dec. 4, when he takes on 36-year-old Doel Carrasquillo in a welterweight matchup at The Legendary Blue Horizon in Chambers' hometown of Philadelphia.
The 24-year-old Upsher-Chambers takes a record of 20-1-1 and 10 knockouts into his scheduled eight-rounder against Carrasquillo, a 36-year-old with a mark of 12-12-1 and 10 KOs, who has lost his last five bouts.
Promoted by Vernoca L. Michael, Chambers-Carrasquillo is the main event of an annual Children's Holiday night during which fans are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift that will go to an agency that helps underprivileged families.
Upsher-Chambers, who is making his 22nd appearance at The Blue Horizon, is coming off of September's second-round knockout of Aaron Drake.
In the eight-round middleweight (160 pounds) co-feature, Philadelphia's Gee Cullmer (16-1, three KOs) takes on Loren Myers (7-7, two KOs) of Fresno, Calif.
Culmer has won 11 consecutive bouts, and is coming off of May's six-round, split-decision victory over Clarence "Sonny Bono" Taylor.
Culmer is 10-0, with one knockout at the Blue Horizon, while Myers has dropped three straight -- the last defeat being a fourth-round knockout against unbeaten Dion Savage in September.
