Matt Ryan
Matt Ryan left Sunday's game against Tampa Bay after Atlanta's first drive. He attempted to come back, but by halftime was in street clothes, cheering on the Falcons to a come-from-behind victory. On Monday, head coach Mike Smith announced that Ryan had turf toe and would miss next Sunday's game against t he Philadelphia Eagles.

"Ryan has an injured toe that will keep him sidelined this week", Smith said during his Monday afternoon press conference. He added that the team will not add a quarterback to the roster, choosing to start Chris Redman and use John Parker Wilson, who hasn't been active all season, as the backup.

As for the severity of the injury, Smith said that the team plans to evaluate the injury each week and not set a time table for return at this point. He did say that he felt encouraged by Ryan's ability to leave the field under his own power, "it was a situation where he was able to leave the field, which I think bodes well for a speedy recovery."

Smith was less then forthcoming when speaking about the injury to another star offensive player from the Falcons' roster -- running back Michael Turner re-injured his right ankle on Sunday, and the team will not rule him out for Week 13 just yet.

"I don't want to comment, because it's not clear," Smith said. "Michael will continue to work and we'll see where he is Wednesday."
