Wanda Sykes Breaks Down the Tiger Woods Accident Rumors
Saturday's Wanda Sykes Show featured a monologue about the Tiger Woods car accident, and that's no surprise; Wanda focuses on topical humor and Tiger is all anyone was talking about over the weekend. But it is surprising that Wanda seemed to be ahead of the pack -- and certainly ahead of most of the mainstream media -- on the Tiger Woods accident rumors, breaking through the spin and getting close to what seems to be the real story.
Noting a news report that Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren, was hovering over Woods after the car accident, Sykes poked some holes in that story.
"Hovering is never good. You know who hovered? Muhammad Ali hovered when he knocked Sonny Liston out. That's hovering. She beat the hell out of Tiger. That's what happened. But I don't know if she used the right club."
Wanda is, of course, taking some comedic license when she suggests that Elin "beat the hell out of Tiger," and the truth is we might never know exactly what happened. But Sykes comes across as surprisingly prescient in cutting through the official Woods PR spin.
