Every Tuesday night, we'll give you an update on our FanHouse fantasy football league. Who hit on their sleepers? Who made the shrewd pickups? Who's practicing what they preach? In 'House Check, you'll find out.Well, here we are at the last week of the season, and while we know five of our six playoff teams, we don't have a clue how they will be seeded. That's because there's a tie atop the standings in each of our three divisions.
In a fight for a playoff spot as well as the Division 2 crown, Ryan Dembinsky and I meet this week. His team features the rejuvenated Brett Favre, while I have the soon-to-be-benched Peyton Manning. He has No. 1 WR Reggie Wayne, I have Wes Welker. It should come down to who picks the correct starters, as any points left on the bench could cost a team the game.
In the playoffs (and fighting for first-round byes) are Shane Bacon, Tom Mantzouranis, Will Brinson, Matt Snyder and Knox Bardeen. Brinson has the most points in the league, but is a game behind his Division 3 counterparts. He'd need to win his game against Mantzouranis and have Bacon lose to Chris Burke.
The only game that has no playoff implications is the one between Sean Lalley and Tom Herrera. Lalley has made a bit of a surge in recent weeks, but it's been too little, too late. Herrera has just been snake-bitten this season, thoroughly and unabashedly. At this point, his number one receiver is Steve Breaston. Nuff said.
On the wire this week, I expect Jerious Norwood to be snatched up by somebody. Chris Brown, Willis McGahee, Jason Campbell and even Ryan Fitzpatrick (check out his playoff schedule) could also find their way onto teams. I personally have the Manning brothers, and with the possibility of Peyton Manning resting during a critical playoff game, I might take a chance on one of those QBs myself. I'm putting a claim on Norwood and Fitzpatrick, and hopefully I'll find a way to make it to the playoffs.
Check back with us next week, and we'll give you a full playoff preview. Good luck in your critical games as well!
