Mountain West Reprimands Max Hall for 'I Hate Utah' Rant
After Saturday's win over Utah, Brigham Young University quarterback Max Hall went off on his rival, saying, "I don't like Utah. In fact, I hate them. I hate everything about them. I hate their program, I hate their fans, I hate everything." Now the Mountain West Conference has reprimanded Hall for his comments.
The conference issued a statement saying Hall "has been issued a public reprimand for comments which disparaged and criticized another MWC member institution following the Nov. 28, 2009 Utah at BYU football contest. The actions of Mr. Hall were in violation of MWC Sportsmanship Rule."
Hall issued a statement apologizing for saying he hates Utah, although it was one of those athlete apologies that is really more an excuse than a show of remorse. He apparently won't be disciplined beyond the reprimand, though, so this is likely the end of the "I hate Utah" incident.
