Allen Iverson is returning "home," as the Philadelphia 76ers announced via their team website Wednesday morning that they have signed the future Hall of Famer and longtime Philly favorite to a one-year deal.Team President Ed Stefanski said in a news release that the team believed "Allen was the best available free agent guard to help" after the injury to Lou Williams, who will miss up to eight weeks.
And from Iverson's perspective, the signing offers him a chance to erase the bitter taste that lingered from unsuccessful stops in Detroit and Memphis, as well as the opportunity to finish his NBA career in a place where he has always been considered a sports idol.
The 34-year-old Iverson is expected to make his Sixers debut Monday against Denver.
