Every Friday, FanHouse sifts through the rubble and picks the best NHL fight, with the help of HockeyFights.com.We like long fights, especially when they can hold the intensity. Sometimes, however, you get the right combination of factors, and a 20-second fight is just perfect. Such was the case for this week's top scrap.
The 'Please Don't Knock Me Out' Fight of the Week: Wade Belak vs. Derek Boogaard
There aren't many secrets among fighters in the NHL. They're all fully aware that Boogaard is a big, tough man who they don't want to mess with unless they're ready. In many cases, the fight ends up like this one, where Belak basically spends the whole time trying to not get knocked out by Boogaard. You can watch the fight by clicking here.
Colton Orr Fight of the Week: Colton Orr vs. Steve MacIntyre
The guy almost deserves his own category at this point. This bout with MacIntyre lasted a while, but it was worth it, especially when you consider the way it ended. Good stuff from two of the best. Watch the video here.
Runner-Up: Riley Cote vs. Eric Boulton
No question that Boulton is a good fighter. So is Cote. In this case, Cote tried to end things quickly, but Boulton wouldn't cooperate. He got a couple good shots in on Cote before the officials stepped in. Watch it here.
Fight of the Week: Craig Rivet vs. Daniel Carcillo
Yes, it's a bit short.
No, it's not the most competitive.
However, there were a couple things working in favor of this fight as the week's best.
First off, it was in Philadelphia, and the crowd loved it. Secondly, we have Rick Jeanneret at the microphone.
Enjoy.
