Undefeated Philadelphia middleweight, Tyrone Brunson, will go after his 21st knockout in 23 fights -- and his 20th in the first round -- when he takes on Oklahoma City's Carson Jones on Friday night at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif.Nicknamed, "Young Gun," Brunson is 21-0-1, with an incredible 20 knockouts, the first 19 of which he accomplished in the first round.
The 24-year-old Brunson is 2-0-1 in his last three bouts heading into his clash with Jones, who, likewise is unbeaten over his last seven bouts.
Brunson was 19-0, all knockouts until August of 2008, when he Antonio Soriano battled him to a six-round draw.
Brunson went the distance, yet again, in his next fight with Marcos Primera in August, scoring an eight-round decision, 79-73, on two cards, and, 78-74.
In November, Brunson was back to his hard-hitting ways, yet again, when he stoppe Jose Medina at 1:31 of the third round.
The 23-year-old Jones (23-7-1, 14 KOs) is on a roll of his own, riding a streak of 6-0 with one no-decision that includes four stoppages -- and that's just since losing in February.
After losing a 10-round unanimous decision to world title contender, Jesus Soto Karass in February, Jones scored second-, and, fourth-round knockouts of Mike McGuire and Dan Wallace in March.
Then, in succession, Jones scored May's 10th-round knockout of Michi Munoz, July's third-round stoppage of Steve Walker in July, battled to a no-decision against Eloy Suarez in August, and won an eight-round, unanimous decision over Jose Adelaydo Gonzalez in October.
