Oklahoma City middleweight (160 pounds) Carson Jones dropped his opponent once before scoring his 15th career knockout with 11 seconds left in the third round of Friday night's Showtime-televised, clash with Philadelphia's previously unbeaten, Tyrone Brunson at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif.

The victory improved the 23-year-old Jones' record to 24-7-1, in what was his ninth fight of the year.

In the third round, Jones floored Brunson with a right hand, left-hook combination. Then, after Brunson rose to his feet, Jones nailed him with several unanswered blows before referee James Jen-Kin stopped the fight.

Jones is on a remarkable roll, riding a streak of 7-0 with one no-decision that includes five knockouts -- and that's just since losing in February.

After dropping a 10-round unanimous decision to world title contender, Jesus Soto Karass in February, Jones scored second- and fourth-round knockouts of Mike McGuire and Dan Wallace in March.

Then, in succession, Jones scored May's 10th-round knockout of Michi Munoz, July's third-round stoppage of Steve Walker in July, battled to a no-decision against Eloy Suarez in August, and won an eight-round, unanimous decision over Jose Adelaydo Gonzalez in October.

The loss brought to a halt, what had been a stunning run by Brunson (21-1-1), who has 20 knockouts -- the first 19 of which had come in the first round.

Nicknamed, "Young Gun," the 24-year-old Brunson is 2-1-1 in his last three bouts.
