Luc Longley Wins Bid to Name New Species of Shrimp
According to Wired (via Mr. Q. Rock), last April Longley won a charity auction conducted through eBay to name a recently discovered shrimp species. The shrimp -- now dubbed Lebbeus clarehanna in honor of Luc's 15-year-old daughter Clare Hanna -- is found off the coast of southwestern Australia. Longley was born in Melbourne.
The shrimp naming cost Longley $2,900, which actually sounds downright reasonable. "What'd your dad get you for your birthday." "He named a deep sea species of shrimp after me. What about yours?" "Uhhh ..." Single ponies don't sound so impressive now, do they?
