Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong met with Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich about the Cardinals' head coaching position Sunday in Gainesville, a Florida source told FanHouse.
Strong visited with Jurich into the early evening on Sunday. There has not been an agreement reached, the source said.
Jurich obtained permission to speak with Strong from Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley on Saturday night following the Gators' loss to Alabama in the SEC championship game.
Louisville is seeking a replacement for Steve Kragthorpe, who was fired on Nov. 28 after going 15-21 in three seasons.
Others that have been previously reported as candidates for the Louisville job include Central Michigan coach Butch Jones, Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, Houston coach Kevin Sumlin, Temple coach Al Golden, former Tennessee coach Phil Fulmer and former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville.
However, a Louisville source told FanHouse last week that Strong was the Cardinals' "clear cut favorite" to replace Kragthorpe.
