ORLANDO, Fla. -- Health Center Hospital has confirmed that Barbro Holmberg, Tiger Woods' mother-in-law, was the woman taken to the hospital from Woods' house early this morning following a 911 call. (UPDATE: Holmberg has been released from the hospital.)
Dan Yates, a spokesman for the hospital, said that Holmberg, a prominent politician in Sweden, is currently in stable condition and undergoing evaluation.
"(Holmberg) is stable and in good condition," said Yates. "The family has visited. She was brought here in a Health Center ambulance. She was admitted with stomach pains."
Additionally, Holmberg is in a private wing of the hospital to protect her from the media firestorm outside the hospital. Yates said that the hospital has beefed up security to protect the privacy of the patient.
"The family seems to be doing well," said Yates. "There is extra security. We've called in off-duty police officers to protect the privacy of the patient."
When asked about Holmberg's stomach, Yates said, "It would be purely speculative. I have no idea. It could be bad food. A long plane ride.
Yates also discussed security concerns at the hospital.
"There are other patients on the (fifth) floor. It's an easier floor to secure. ... There would be stiff penalties if any information comes out. It was the Health Care paramedics that picked (Holmberg) up at Tiger Woods' house. She came in complaining of stomach discomfort. She was admitted almost right away. We have been doing our due dilligence running tests. I will say they there has been some pretty wild speculation out there. There have been some erroneous and speculative reports.
"Sweden and Norway released a press statement at about the same time. We had this press briefing in an attempt to clear up who was admitted and from whose house."
The hospital would not say if Tiger had actually been there.
It remains unconfirmed whether or not Elin Nordegren was the blonde woman identified in the black Escalade that followed the ambulance to the hospital early this morning.
