Three days after Jamie Jungers appeared on the Today Show to discuss her affair with Tiger Woods, Cori Rist was on the morning program to do the same thing. Rist, who has a seven-year-old son, wanted to set the record straight: she is not a prostitute, Woods never gave her money, and when it became clear that the world's best golfer wasn't leaving his wife for Rist, she broke it off.
Rist said that she first met Tiger at a night club in 2006, a year after he married Elin Nordegren. They had a "six-month physical relationship" and then maintained a "two-and-a-half-year friendship after that and he still pursued me and invited me to numerous places ... and I did not go."
When asked why she didn't accept Woods' invitations to meet, Rist admitted that "I felt guilty when I saw the pictures of his wife and his child. I had convictions and I knew that it was wrong. ... The things he was telling me were false."
And what was he telling Rist? "Just that his marriage was on the rocks, and there was a baby on the way and he had to uphold this image, and stick it out for now. Things were not good at home. ...
"The media [made it clear that Woods wasn't being true to his word]. I saw him out ... and then I didn't believe it. And then he would be texting in the middle of the night. I'd ask him who he was texting and he'd say, 'Just checking emails.'"

Rist said she last heard from Woods in September 2009 and he asked her "to meet him somewhere." And even though they hadn't been in a relationship for two years, Woods "had always done that ... constantly [pursuing me]."
In response to a question about how Rist is different from Woods' other mistresses, she offered this: "I wasn't looking to get anything out of this relationship. I wasn't saving every voicemail ... I did walk away from this. I made a moral decision that this was not right. I would just like to think that I'm not the party girl that they're claiming that I am."
And when asked about how this news has been hard on her son, Rist, fighting back tears, said that "He's suffering a lot of consequences from this ... I've had to explain to him the mistakes that I made."
Rist added: "I don't think [Tiger's] an honest man. ... I honestly don't know how he had the time to have so many women in his life."
