Providence's NBC 10 reports that "one of the johns who tried to pay for sex with a prostitute was 47-year-old Robert Sormanti of Warwick. He is one of several people who plays the Pat the Patriot mascot."
According to the Boston Herald, Sormanti answered an adult ad on Craigslist "that hinted at a sex tryst for cash."
The Pats have released the following statement: "The Pat Patriot mascot costume is worn by multiple people, each of whom are held responsible and accountable for their actions. The individual in question has been suspended. The mascot responsibilities will continue to be fulfilled by others."
Maybe Pat and Steely McBeam can start a support group. In the meantime, I look forward to Bill Belichick fielding questions about Pervy Pat's behavior and whether it has had any effect on the team's struggles this season.
