Tiger's Caddie Not Impressed With ESPN's Rick Reilly

A year ago, the biggest scandal in Camp Tiger was the news that caddie Steve Williams had spoken publicly about Phil Mickelson's large breasts, and that he hated "the pr*ck." At the time, it was one of the few instances where Tiger's people didn't follow the talking points, that the inner circle got off message.

Lefty wasn't amused and Williams later apologized for his comments.

Now that Tiger's world has imploded in a fortnight, Williams is pointing to his free-spirited ways as proof that he didn't know anything about the 11-and-counting mistresses. And more than that, he refutes the notion put forth by ESPN's Rick Reilly that he should be fired for "enabling" Woods.

Reilly wrote last week that, "[Woods] needs to clean house ... If he wants to keep his wife, he has to get a new agent, a new caddie and some new friends. ... It's hard to believe all this went on without their help or knowledge."

Williams responded: "I am a straight-up sort of person. I tell it like it is. Last year, at the same particular point of time, is when I had the confrontation with Phil Mickelson. I didn't lie about it -- I called the guy a pr*ck.

"I never said I didn't call him a pr*ck. I never denied one word of what I said. I had no knowledge of what Tiger's indiscretion was. And for Rick Reilly to turn around and say that I am a liar and there is no way I couldn't know -- and that I should be fired -- that is sensational journalism at its height right there."

Hmm. It's almost as if Williams doesn't really care what people "holding down couch springs" do or say. Weird.

He continued: "I am an honest person. I had no knowledge of what was going on [with Tiger]. If I did, I would say I did." He then added: "And if you don't believe me, I'll kick your ass and toss you in a lake."*

* Didn't really say that, although he was probably thinking it.
