The megatrade involving Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee has yet to be finalized as the Mariners, Blue Jays and Phillies sort out medical details, but the contract extension Halladay will sign once the trade is complete is in place, according to major league sources.Halladay, who will make $15.75 million in 2010, the final year of an extension he signed with Toronto in 2006, is set to make $20 million a year in 2011, 2012 and 2013, placing the base value of his new deal at three years and $60 million.
There is also a vesting option for 2014, likely to be based on starts and innings pitched, that would pay him another $20 million.
If Halladay can come anywhere close to his recent performance on the mound, it's unlikely he'd have any difficulty reaching a starts or innings pitched threshold.
The right-hander, who won the AL Cy Young Award in 2003, has thrown at least 220 innnings and made at least 31 starts in each of the last four seasons, a stretch going back to 2006.
