Here's a somewhat incredible stat: over his past two games, David Koci has played just under five minutes for the Colorado Avalanche. During that same stretch, he's tallied 25 penalty minutes, including 20 during Colorado's 6-1 loss to Washington on Tuesday night. Honestly, that's quite an accomplishment.

With the Avalanche trailing, 5-0, late in the second period, Koci crushed Capitals defenseman Mike Green from behind, and then threw down with Green's teammate, John Erskine.

Koci was issued a five-minute major for boarding, a five-minute major for fighting and a 10-minute game misconduct. Erskine, meanwhile, received five minutes for fighting a two-minute instigator penalty.

The next concern for Koci is whether or not he'll receive additional punishment from the NHL. Seeing as how it was a hit from behind, combined with the fact there was an injury on the play, it's possible -- if not likely -- that he'll receive something.

The win was Washington's eighth in its past 10 games, while the Capitals received goals from five different players, including a pair from Tomas Fleischmann. Nicklas Backstrom, Mike Knuble, Dave Steckel and Matt Bradley also scored in the rout.
