We get to know NHL players with some quick questions. Today's subject: Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Suter.

What is your earliest hockey memory?

I think just hanging out at the rink watching my dad (Bob Suter) coach. I was always on the bench as a little kid just watching him.

What's your favorite thing about being in the NHL?

Favorite thing? Oh, man. There's so many. When you're a kid, I grew up watching my uncle (Gary Suter) play and just dreamed about playing in the NHL someday. I think it just being a childhood dream that came true for me would be my favorite thing.

And your least favorite thing?

Maybe being away from my family. It's tough. We have great jobs, a great life, but having to go away at the end of the summer and not see them over Christmas and things like that is tough.

Any hidden talents off the ice? Something you might like to do if you weren't a hockey player?

Oh man, hidden talents? Not really. I have a tractor I like to mess around with sometimes, pushing dirt around and mowing the fields. I guess I'm kind of a wannabe farmer.

Who is the one player in the NHL you would like to get with a good, solid clean check?

That's a tough question. Let me think about that. Who have most guys said?

Matt Cooke has been mentioned. Ryan Kesler has been mentioned at least once. Sean Avery. Guys like that. Agitators, usually.

I have to think of somebody different. That is a tough question ... (pause) ... I'm trying to think of somebody that really pisses me off. If I was on another team I'm sure that I'd say Jordin Tootoo, but he's on my own team so I don't want to line him up. You know what? I'll say Kesler. I'm friends with him but I'd still like to line him up and get him once.

If you could pick one teammate to change places with, who would it be and why?

I don't know if I'd want to switch with anybody. I can't answer that one, I don't think I'd want to switch with anyone. I have a pretty good life.
