Unbeaten Seth Mitchell Pursues 10th KO
A 6-foot-2, 27-year-old, Mitchell (14-0) is after his 10th career knockout and his third straight against Page, a 36-year-old with a record of 19-26-2, with only seven stoppages.
"This is [Mitchell's] first, eight-round fight and it's in his hometown, but he's facing a guy who has spoiled many a career," said Baltimore-based promoter, Jake Smith. "So, really, I think this is a true test for Mitchell."
Added to the card is rising Baltimore welterweight (147 pounds), Emmanuel Taylor, an 18-year-old who will be after his fifth knockout in as many victories without a loss against 26-year-old James Hope (4-3, four KOs) off Rock Hall, S.C., in a scheduled four-rounder.
"Taylor looks to be one of the best fighters on the card," said Smith.
The four-round, co-main event features 27-year-old heavyweight Maurice "Freight Train" Byarm (4-0) of Washington, D.C., going after his fourth knockout against Mike Miller (6-13-2, three) of Akron, Ohio.
"This is also a very tough test for Byram, who is an up-and-coming heavyweight," said Smith. "He's fighting another veteran of the ring who can pull an upset."
Miller, however, is ending a 13-month layoff, having been out of the ring since last November's fourth-round, disqualification victory over Kareem Wilson.
Another four-rounder matches Abodurin "Bo" Akinyanju (2-0, two) of Washington, D.C., against Wayne Hampton (5-5, three) of Capitol Heights.
Also, heavyweight Dwayne McRae (5-1, three) of Lauerel meets Bernell Stewart, who is making his professional debut.
