Chris Henry On Minds of NFL Receivers

Brandon MarshallThreats of fines may have stopped Chad Ochocinco from wearing his late teammate Chris Henry's jersey on Sunday, but Brandon Marshall stepped into the breech. During pregame warmups in Denver before the Broncos took on the Raiders, Marshall wore his No. 15 on the field with "Henry" on the back instead of his own surname.

The jersey was back to normal by the time the game got underway, something that will hopefully stop the league police from deciding to make Marshall's wallet lighter during Christmas week. The league did fine the aforementioned Ochocinco when he wore that name on the back of his jersey before a game in 2006, well before he legally changed his name and jersey.

There's a pretty big difference between the two cases, however, and it would be nice for the league to find something else to concentrate when levying punishment for Week 15 infractions. The same goes for any punishment they might have in mind for Ochocinco, who celebrated a touchdown against the Chargers by dropping to a knee and pointing to the sky on Sunday afternoon.

It's against the NFL's celebration rules to go to the ground while celebrating a score. The referees in San Diego wisely kept their flags in their pockets, as Ochocinco's reaction had very little to do with celebration of anything other than the much too early loss of his teammate.

Ochocinco then hugged Bengals receiver Jerome Simpson and CBS cameras caught some tears in his eyes during their embrace. His emotional response to the touchdown continued while he was sitting on the bench during what is clearly more than just another game for the Bengals.
