A month ago, this might have worked: an unassuming Tiger Woods shows up at a strip club, pretends he's new to the experience, and uses his "aw shucks" demeanor and immense fame to land a ladyfriend for the night. But now after all that has come out, that line's out of the rotation. And with the benefit of hindsight, it makes it almost unbelievable that people ever fell for Tiger's alleged "strip club virgin" act. But that's what Us Weekly is reporting as "news."
To cover up his extramarital pursuits, the convincingly "innocent" athlete relied upon an entourage who would broker introductions to attractive women at clubs. "He'd just point and say 'Who's that?' and they'd go over and sayd 'Tiger Woods wants to meet you.' And they would never leave together," club magnate Rocco Ancarola says in the paper.
To be clear: despite Us Weekly's headline -- "Tiger Woods Pretended He Was a "Virgin to Strip Clubs" -- he wasn't trying to convince people that he never had sex. Just that he'd never been to a strip club, which might be more ridiculous.
Of course, I'm also writing about it, so I suppose that qualifies it as important (sarcasm) but this shouldn't be that shocking. If you're a celebrity and a fan strip clubs, but you want to make sure that people don't think you're a total horndog, you act like you don't frequent said strip clubs. It's really quite simple.
