Brady Quinn Done for Season

Mike Holmgren hasn't been on the job for 24 hours and he's already run into his first snag as czar of the Browns. Brady Quinn, whose future is one of the bigger decisions facing Holmgren, was placed on injured reserve Tuesday and that means the moustachioed mastermind won't have a chance to evaluate his play in living color over the last two weeks.

Quinn hurt his foot at some point during the victory over the Chiefs on Sunday and will presumably be replaced by Derek Anderson.

That's not great for Quinn, either. Obviously he wasn't working with the 2007 Patriots, but among the 33 qualified quarterbacks in the NFL Quinn ranks 32nd in completion percentage and yards per attempt this season. As always, the mediocre quarterbacks of the NFL have many reasons to thank the heavens for JaMarcus Russell's existence.
The loss of Quinn is not without upside for the Browns. They posted 41 points against the Chiefs on Sunday in spite of a typical Quinnerific 10 for 17, 66-yard effort in the passing game, so it's not like he's actually crucial to the team's offensive attack. There's also the chance that Anderson could post a couple of big games and catch the eye of another team willing to fork over a draft pick for the chance to let him act like a human statue in their pocket.

Anderson's return to the starting lineup could set up an unexpected revenge game on Sunday in Cleveland. The Raiders are coming to town and, if he's healthy, Charlie Frye will be starting at quarterback against the man who took his job halfway through the first game of the 2007 season.

If that doesn't get you to watch, nothing will. It's like the NFL version of the final race in Days of Thunder!
