The score might not have indicated it. Or the effort. But for a 30-second stretch early in the fourth quarter, the Redskins were an impassioned bunch. Of course, all that passion got them a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct (and a Giants first down which resulted in another Giants touchdown a few plays later), but at this point in the proceedings, we're calling it a moral victory. Swinging gates have a way of really lowering the bar.

Whatever, after an incomplete pass in the flat, Brandon Jacobs and DeAngelo Hall got into shoving match, Jacobs then threw a punch at Hall before Albert Haynesworth arrived on the scene to dispense his own brand of vigilante justice.

Order was eventually restored, penalties were assessed and just like that, the Redskins resumed mailing it in. But after the game Jacobs' retelling of the events don't match up with the video evidence. Via the Sports Bog:
"I didn't throw a punch," Jacobs said, when asked point-blank whether he did. "I got jumped. I got jumped by two guys. I tried to get out of there, but one had me and one was hitting me. But it is what it is. I guess those guys [are teammates], and they worked together."
That's one interpretation. Another interpretation: Jacobs took a swing at Hall and missed. And then he tried the rope-a-dope pimp slap on Haynesworth.

No matter. While admitting that Haynesworth is a "huge dude," Jacobs added: "I'm not scared of anybody. Nobody. You put your pants on the right way, same way I do. You bleed like I do, you stand over the toilet and you [urinate] like I do. I'm not scared of anybody. At all."

Got that would-be on-field assailants? Jacobs doesn't care how you choose to relieve yourself, he's not scared. Duly noted, sir.
