Brandon MorrowJack Zduriencik and the Mariners' busy offseason continued Monday night when they agreed to send Brandon Morrow to the Blue Jays for reliever Brandon League and a currently unknown prospect, according to Ken Rosenthal. The Seattle Times' Geoff Baker confirms that Morrow and League are in line for physicals tomorrow, which means the deal should be complete soon.

The only thing known about the third player in the deal right now is that he's a minor leaguer and Baker says it's not Brett Wallace, who the Blue Jays just acquired from Oakland. Because Morrow is a 24-year old with significant upside as a starter while League is a reliever (though he could be a very good one), it seems likely that the prospect could be a big part of this deal for Seattle, though until the deal is officially announced we won't know more.

For Seattle, this is the fourth significant move of the offseason and their third big trade in December. They've already added Chone Figgins via free agency and Cliff Lee and Milton Bradley in deals. They've long discussed dealing Morrowm and now with Lee in the rotation and a lineup that looks nearly ready to contend, Morrow was probably their best chip to cash in and fill their remaining weaknesses.

League will help their bullpen, but if they're not getting Wallace it's hard to find another player in the Blue Jays' system that would be a good fit for them.

Toronto gets to add another good arm to their Roy-Halladay-less rotation, and though we don't know who the third player is it seems like a good deal for them if they aren't giving up Wallace (or Kyle Drabek, which should go without saying). Still, it's hard to judge a trade until all of the parts involved are known so the jury's out for at least another day or two.
