The Kansas Jayhawks remain the No. 1 team in this week's ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25 poll, but just not by as much.

Kansas is no longer the unanimous top-ranked team in the country after No. 2 Texas and Big 12 foe picked up three of the possible 31 first-place votes in the poll released Monday with conference play just around the corner. It seems some voters were swayed by the Texas Longhorns (11-0) last two games -- two top 10 wins -- against North Carolina and Michigan State.

The most recent was last Tuesday when the Longhorns and Damion James out muscled the then No.9 Spartans 79-69 for their 11th double-digit victory in as many games this season. The Jayhawks (11-0), meanwhile, are coming off an 84-69 win over Cal on Dec. 22 in which they had to rally in the second half before pulling away from the Bears at Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas, which began the preseason as the unanimous No.1 pick in the coaches poll and had not relinquished that hold until Monday, received 28 first place votes for a total of 772 points. The Longhorns received 743 points this week.

Texas also closed in on the Jayhawks some in the AP poll, receiving 11 first-place votes compared to just seven a week ago. Kansas received 52 first-place votes which is down three from last week.
