Ron Artest Claims Memory Loss From Christmas Night Injuries
For the first time since the accident, Artest met the media at Staples Center, during halftime of Tuesday night's game. And while he patiently took questions from reporters, he didn't provide a lot of answers -- perhaps because he couldn't remember much of anything that happened to cause his injuries.
"I can't remember everything," Artest said. "It was for Christmas -- maybe it was the presents. I can't remember much in between. . . . My wife said I was asleep for like two or three minutes. Obviously I don't remember that part. I went to the hospital. It took me about an hour to get my senses back."
Artest continued with this theme, providing little to no insight, while keeping media members from seeing most of the Lakers' 17-9 third quarter run that put them ahead, after the home team trailed by seven at the break.
Since Artest answered most of the questions about how this happened with some variation of "I can't remember," we will likely never know what actually occurred. But what we do know is that this is the first blip of real controversy to show up on the Lakers' radar this season.
If the team wants to repeat as champions, they'd better hope that it's the last.
