Chris JohnsonThe Titans were eliminated from the playoff race with a 42-17 Christmas night loss to San Diego, so the only storyline really worth tracking when Tennessee visits Seattle Sunday is Chris Johnson's quest for the 2,000-yard rushing plateau.

Johnson has 1,872 yards for Tennessee this season, 128 short of the coveted mark -- only five players in NFL history have reached that total (O.J. Simpson, Eric Dickerson, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis and Jamal Lewis).

The Titans will no doubt do whatever they can to try and get Johnson to 2,000 yards and beyond -- with 235 yards, Johnson would tie Dickerson for the league's single-season record -- but Seattle has no intentions of letting that happen.

"Not in our house, that's the motto," Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "He's been ripping the league all year. We're going to do our best to try to stop him, obviously, because we don't want any back to get 100 on us. So 128 is a little over our limit.

"I'm pretty sure they're going to try to get it for him. If they've got to get him 40 or 50 carries, why not? They're not playing for the playoffs or anything. So it would be a good team goal to get a back to 2,000. We understand that."

Johnson was named to an AFC Pro Bowl starter earlier this week. Neither he nor his teammates have made any secret about their desire to get Johnson to the 2,000-yard mark Sunday.

"That record would mean a lot to me," Johnson said.

Johnson's actually closer to breaking Marshall Faulk's single-season record of total yards from scrimmage. Faulk accumulated 2,429 yards in the 1999 season. Johnson sits at 2,355 yards. That record, though it's arguably just as, if not more impressive, comes with less fanfare than 2,000 yards rushing.

Seattle's allowed just one 100-yard rusher this season, the Niners' Frank Gore in Week 2. Johnson, though, after a bit of a sluggish start to the season, has topped 100 yards in each of the Titans' last 10 games.

Tennessee can also finish 8-8 with a win in Seattle, which is nothing to sneeze at given the Titans' 0-6 start to the year.
