Roberto Luongo stopped 31 shots during Vancouver's 3-1 win in Dallas on Saturday evening to help the Canucks win for the 12th time in their past 16 games. His best save of the day came with the game on the line late in the third period.

With the Canucks leading, 2-1, Dallas' Mike Modano was wide open at the front of the net and had a great opportunity to even the score. That is, until Luongo slid across the crease and managed to get his right pad in front of the shot.

Following the game Luongo said he didn't even see Modano or the shot. Via the AP: "I actually didn't see [Modano's shot] and it was kind of a desperation play by me. I didn't even see the shot go off or the puck, I just put my leg out there and was able to get my skate on it. It was just a reaction and fortunately I got a piece of it."

Alexandre Burrows added an empty-net goal with 17 seconds remaining to secure the win. Ryan Kesler and Daniel Sedin also scored for the Canucks, while Loui Eriksson scored the lone goal for Dallas.

Luongo, one of the three netminders named to the team Canada roster for next Month's Olympics (which will take place in Vancouver, of course), might be playing his best hockey of the season right now. Since his slow start in October, Luongo has posted a .930 save percentage over the past two months. It's no surprise that Vancouver is 18-9-1 over the same stretch.
