Casey Johnson, daughter of New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, was found dead in Los Angeles on Monday, according to reports. She was 30 years old. The cause of death is currently unknown.
Police officers responded to her home around 11:51 a.m. where paramedics had already pronounced Johnson dead, officer Sara Faden told the Associated Press.
Faden said she did not know how long Johnson may have been dead by the time authorities arrived. A preliminary investigation turned up no signs of foul play, Faden added. Results of toxicology tests could take six weeks to obtain.
Jesse Derris, a spokesman for the Johnson family, said that the family is mourning her tragic loss. In a statement, the family asked for privacy "during this very difficult time."
Johnson's fiancee, reality TV star Tila Tequila, has posted updates to her Twitter page to express her sadness. One of her updates read: "You will forever be in my heart! I love you so much and we will marry when I see you in heaven my wifey." Earlier, Tequila said her "heart is shredded" over Johnson's death.
Tequila's publicist said the two were engaged to be married. Tequila is best known for her starring role on A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila, which had a two-season run on MTV.
Casey Johnson, the Johnson & Johnson heiress who was dubbed a "troubled socialite" by tabloids, had a checkered past that included a history of drug problems and rehab attempts. In November, she was arrested after she allegedly stole dozens of pieces of clothing, jewelry and other items from a supermodel/reality TV star, Jasmine Lennard, who had befriended her.
At the time of the arrest, an outraged Lennard had this to say: "I tried to get her off drugs and alcohol. I tried to get her into a 12-step program. I tried to help take care of her daughter. I've given her money."
Johnson adopted a child, Ava, from Kazakhstan a few years ago, but the girl was taken away by Casey's mother, Sale Johnson, over concerns about the child's safety. Sale and Woody Johnson, who are divorced, also had recently cut off Casey's trust fund, according to reports.
