Boise StateGLENDALE, Ariz. -- The last time the Boise State Broncos were in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, they sealed the win in 2007 with a gutsy Statue of Liberty play.

The sixth-ranked Broncos used a bit of trickery again Monday night to set up the game-winning touchdown on the way to a 17-10 Fiesta Bowl win over No. 3 TCU, in front of 73,277 fans at University of Phoenix Stadium. Boise State, playing in a historic matchup of two non-automatic qualifiers in a BCS bowl, is now destined to be one of two undefeated teams.

It was all made possible on another gutsy call by Boise State coach Chris Petersen. With the Broncos offense stuck in neutral for most of the second half, Petersen called for a fake punt in his own end. Punter Kyle Brotzman fired a pass over the middle, and over a rushing Horned Frog, to a wide open Kyle Efaw for a 29-yard pass play to the TCU 38.

Four plays and three big passes later, running back Doug Martin went diving over the top for a 2-yard touchdown that broke a 10-10 tie with 7:21 remaining.

The Broncos less celebrated defense took it in from there, giving TCU quarterback Andy Dalton & Co. very little room to work. Boise State stifled the Horned Frogs on three straight drives, which included an interception by safety Winston Venable to seal the game on the final drive.
