PASADENA, Calif. -- Rolando McClain's tummy is fine.McClain, Alabama's All-American linebacker, participated in pregame warmups Thursday and is expected to play against Texas in the highly-anticipated BCS title game at the Rose Bowl.
McClain missed BCS Media Day on Tuesday with a stomach virus and was said to be feeling better on Wednesday. McClain, a junior, calls signals on the field for Alabama's complex defense and leads the team with 101 tackles.
Expected to skip his senior season and enter the NFL Draft, where he should be a first-round selection, McClain began feeling sick late Monday.
McClain and the Crimson Tide's touted defense should be tested by Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, who started the season as one of the favorites for the Heisman Trophy after finishing second in 2008.
Although McCoy didn't match his production from last season, the dual-threat quarterback is one of the nation's top weapons.
That's why Alabama fans should feel better knowing that McClain appears to be feeling better.
For trivia buffs, there have been 48 meetings (24 regular season, two championships and 22 postseason games) of the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in college football history.
The last meeting was between No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Alabama in the SEC title game last month in Atlanta. The Crimson Tide beat the Gators, 32-13.
The last No. 1 team to win the BCS title was Florida, which thumped No. 2 Oklahoma 24-14 on Jan. 8, 2009.
While a majority of the country has been blanketed by biting cold, it's absolutely stunning here.
Current temperatures are in the mid-70s with slight winds from the south as the sun begins to dip.
Temperatures are expected in the high-60s for kickoff.
