Two Teen Girls Rob Ohio Bank, Police Say

(Jan. 7) -- Police in suburban Cincinnati are searching for a pair of unlikely bank robbers: teenage girls, one possibly as young as 12.

The girls held up a First National Bank in Symmes Township, Ohio, on Tuesday afternoon. They didn't show any weapons or make any threats, but they gave the teller a note and left with a bag of money. Police said some of the cash was "bait money" that can be easily traced.

One of the robbers is believed to be 14 to 16 years old. The other appeared to be 12 to 14. Even though police used a dog and helicopter to hunt for the girls, they got away on foot, USA Today reported.

Bank security cameras didn't get a good picture of the robbers, according to WRKC in Cincinnati.

Bank robberies by young females are unusual but not unheard of. Two stylish-looking 19-year-olds who robbed a bank in Acworth, Ga., in 2007 were nicknamed the "Barbie Bandits." Ashley Miller was sent to prison for two years, and Heather Johnston was sentenced to 10 years of probation.
