Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price dropped his gloves. His counterpart with St. Louis Blues, Ty Conklin, dropped his stick and skated to mid-ice.

But the chances of goalie fisticuffs fizzled after Price's first-period collision with Blues winger Cam Janssen during Wednesday's 4-3 overtime victory in Montreal.

"I was at the end of the shift and I was just just going for the puck," Janssen said between periods on Fox Sports Midwest. "I was the first man there. I couldn't just let them break it right out. I saw him come right at me. We both went (for the puck) at the same time. I was just trying to get out of the way, but too bad the boards were right there and I hit him. Whatever."

Price fell backwards after the collision and threw off his glove and blocker. He tried to grab Janssen, who was already busy with Habs defenseman Roman Hamrlik.

"(Price) dropped his gloves and acted like he was going to fight me, but let's be honest here," said Janssen, who entered Wednesday second on the Blues with 104 penalty minutes.

While one could argue that Price was guilty of roughing or maybe third-man in misconduct penalty, he --- and whatever Montreal player who would be forced to serve the infraction --- didn't draw any time. Instead, Hamrlik and Janssen received roughing minors and Conklin was given a minor for leaving his crease.

On the ensuing power play, the Habs scored their first goal of the game as Benoit Pouliot beat Conklin.
