At this point, you'll likely take what you can get in the fantasy player pool with only four teams left in the playoffs. If you can still add players, we'll look for a hidden gem on each team for you to snatch up. We'll also identify a star on each team that may be worth sitting if you have other solid options in place.Again, it's nearly impossible to give a piece of good advice that will benefit all leagues, as there really is no conventional method in place to play playoff fantasy football. However, I'll do the best I can.
Vikings
Start: WR Bernard Berrian. Remember that name? Berrian was once the leader of the receiver group in Minnesota and a reliable fantasy starter. Sidney Rice's emergence and Percy Harvin's addition have rendered Berrian all but useless in fantasy leagues. Harvin though is questionable to play on Sunday. New Orleans will double-team Rice, leaving Berrian in single coverage much of the day. He could exploit his matchup for a big fantasy day.
Sit: RB Adrian Peterson. I know, it's hard to sit such a talented running back, but Peterson has been pretty ordinary over the last few months. Throw out Week 17's nine-carry game, and the last time Peterson averaged at least 4.0 yards per carry was in Week 11 against the Lions. Against Dallas last week he gained just 63 yards on 26 carries.
Saints
Start: WR Devery Henderson. With Robert Meachem not at 100 percent, Henderson was able to record four catches for 80 yards in last week's win over Arizona, including a 44-yard touchdown. Minnesota had been susceptible to deep passing plays late in the season before shutting down Dallas, but Henderson would quite possibly find himself on the receiving end of another long score.
Sit: RB Reggie Bush. Yes, he looked like a different player last week, but who's to say he can keep it up? He had just nine touches in the win, and he's far from a lock for a big statistical performance if he receives single-digit touches yet again. With Minnesota's ability to take away the run, I'd actually shy away from all New Orleans backs if at all possible.
Jets
Start: WR Brad Smith. If you need to dig deep for a sleeper this week, take a chance on Smith. He returns kicks, one of which he took back for a touchdown against Indianapolis in Week 16. He runs the wildcat offense, which will need to be effective if the Jets have any hope of winning this game. He's the one player still alive in the playoffs that could throw, rush for, catch or return a kick for a TD.
Sit: RB Thomas Jones. Shonn Greene has been the more effective rusher in the playoffs, and the Jets are likely to rely on his fresh, young legs in this game. Jones may look like a solid play against Indy's 24th-ranked rushing defense, but Indianapolis had no problem bottling up the Ravens' rushing attack last week. Of the two, I'd prefer to go with Greene, but neither are locks for good games.
Colts
Start: RB Donald Brown. The Colts should spend much of the second half protecting the lead, and with Joseph Addai not at full strength, the ball could go to Brown in that scenario. Another deep sleeper could be Mike Hart, who like Brown received six carries in last week's win over the Ravens.
Sit: WR Reggie Wayne. Darrelle Revis. Need I say more?
