Oregon Toddler Helps Save His Injured Mother's Life
Little Nehamiah looked on as his mom, Kimyetta Moses, accidentally knocked over a large mirror while vacuuming, badly slicing her leg. The boy sprang to action, climbing on to a chair in an attempt to open the door of their Gresham, Ore., home.
"He picked it up and pushes it to the door and climbs up on the door and unlocks the door and then jumps down and goes outside and screams, 'Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!'" Moses told Portland's KOIN news station.
As Moses continued to lose blood, her son, nicknamed "Nemo," caught the attention of neighbors, who rushed to
Moses's aid.
"I was astounded - I was like 'Oh my gosh,' Moses said. "I never taught him that, and it just came out of nowhere."
Moses was able to call 911 and travel to a nearby hospital, where she underwent surgery to repair
her leg. Her mother and Nemo's grandmother, Angela Saunders, are attempting to raise funds for her hospital
bills via her Facebook page, as Moses does not have health insurance.
Saunders told KOIN her grandson is a "true hero" for saving his mother, who is a single mom.
"When I heard what he did, it broke me," she said. "What happened to Kim-- she could have lost her life, and he saved it."
