It took Dion Phaneuf less than six minutes to start causing chaos and raising hell as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs in their 3-0 win against the New Jersey Devils. Early in the first period of his Toronto debut, Phaneuf found himself in a fight with New Jersey's Colin White after finishing a hard check on Zach Parise along the boards.
As if throwing down with White wasn't enough to make a strong first impression with the new hometown fans, Phaneuf also finished the game with a plus-one rating, four shots on goal and was credited with three blocked shots and six hits in over 24 minutes of ice-time. Nothing like setting the bar high.
Goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere was also making his blue-and-white debut, and after losing his last seven starts in Anaheim, turned aside all 30 shots he faced to record his second shutout of the season to help the Leafs end a six-game losing streak.
