Chris Johnson accepted the FedEx Ground Player of the Year Award on Wednesday at the Super Bowl media festivities in what actually turned out to be a pretty interesting ceremony, thanks to an innocuous-sounding question from a reporter about his coach.

"Talk about your coach, Jeff Fisher and how he [helped] you get your achievements."

Easy answer to that is: "Coach's game plan really prepared me for a big season and because of the way he prepares us to pound the rock, yada-yada-yada." Easy, simple, plain athlete-speak and wholly uninteresting.

Instead, Johnson went with: "I don't know if he'll want me to say this, but the whole game plan was me getting 2,000 yards."

The Titans star continued, too, letting everyone know that Fisher called a team meeting where he pointed out that the playoffs weren't within reach anymore so "it didn't matter" whether the Titans won or lost as long as Johnson got his 2,000 yards.

Of course, this explains why the Titans were uber-aggressive on offense, often going for it on fourth down against the Seahawks (a fact that Johnson even cited in his press conference) and, if you watched the game, makes total sense -- the Tennessee-Seattle tilt, despite zero playoff implications, was one of the most exciting games of Week 17.

The Titans were clearly playing hard to get Johnson his yards and the Hawks were clearly playing to keep Johnson from getting those yards. And Fisher haters will probably come out of the woodwork to complain about his willingness to sacrifice important things like "winning meaningless games" in exchange for "milestone records."

Anyone who does speak up, though, better check their record and make sure they didn't complain about the Colts not shooting for a perfect season.
