Video: New Orleans Begins to Liven Up

NEW ORLEANS -- Remember the simple, quiet New Orleans? Good, because you can forget it.

As promised, the French Quarter turned much livelier on Friday, as people abandoned work early to hit Bourbon Street, where this mini parade unexpectedly rolled through. It stretched far longer than the video below shows, featuring men dressed as chipmunks, women in busty Victorian dresses and even Green Man.

While my inhibited Yankee brain was trying to make sense of all the madness, the empty bottles at the end of the video pretty much say everything that needs to be said. Watch below (some language heard in the background is NSFW).

Warning: beware of falling beads.
