Chicago Cubs to Build All-Inclusive Club at Wrigley Field

When Tom Ricketts bought the Chicago Cubs from the Tribune Company for around $740 million last October, it wasn't just the team he was buying. He also got Wrigley Field in the deal. Wrigley may be an icon in and of itself, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of areas in which the 96-year old stadium could use an upgrade.

Ricketts has plenty of plans to improve the park, but up first he'd like to make some changes to the luxury suites. While he's renovating two of the luxury boxes in the park into one large ownership suite, there are also plans to build an all-inclusive club for season-ticket holders.

The suite will be located along the left-field line and accomodate 71 season-ticket holders, and all for the low, low cost of $300 a game. Now that seems like quite a lot of money to spend on season tickets -- and it is as the total of $24,300 for one season -- but it's actually being built with the intent of helping out smaller businesses.

As of now the only option a company had to have a suite at Wrigley to entertain clients was to rent an entire box, which consists of 15 to 18 seats, and ends up costing $169,000 to $280,000 a year. This new suite -- which is called the Executive Club for now, but will change when the team sells the naming rights -- will allow companies to buy as few as two seats if they so choose.

Plus, when the Cubs say the club is all-inclusive, they mean that along with the price of the seat you'll be getting all the free alcohol, food and parking you need. So with beer at Wrigley costing about $6 a pop, if you drink 4,050 beers during the season -- which averages out to be 50 a game -- then the tickets are paying for themselves.

You can throw a hot dog or some nachos in there from time to time. In fact, you probably should, because you don't want to drink 50 beers on an empty stomach.
