Rajon Rondo Is Ready for H.O.R.S.E, Not Afraid of Free Throws

DALLAS -- Rajon Rondo is having his best year yet as a pro, and in addition to being selected to his first All-Star team, he'll also try to match trick shots with Kevin Durant and Omri Casspi in a game of H.O.R.S.E. which will take place on All-Star Saturday night.

Despite all of Rondo's talents, the one thing he's struggled with is his free throw shooting. Rondo is shooting a career-worst 59 percent from the line this season, so naturally, (after discussing his flashiness and overall improvement this year) I asked him if this might be a concern heading into the H.O.R.S.E. competition.

"For me, I should hopefully win," Rondo said with confidence. "I'll just use the backboard."

Apparently, this is a sore subject -- at least based on the audible gasps and "ooooh" sounds that came from the Boston beat guys after I asked about it. But as you'll see in the following video, not only was Rondo unfazed, he seemed to embrace the challenge. And he even went as far as to declare that he'll make his first attempt a free throw to try to psyche out his competition.

"You know what? My first time I'm going to go straight to the free throw line," Rondo said.
