LeBron JamesDALLAS -- Sprite held a dunk contest for amateurs to entertain the Jam Session crowd on Friday night. The star guest judges were R&B artist Drake and LeBron James. Before the event began, one of the amateurs asked the King for help with a dunk. At first James told the high-flying artist no, but then reluctantly agreed. James sat in a chair and was to bounce the ball up for the dunker to dunk over the seated James.

Unfortunately, after convincing the best player in the NBA to allow himself to be dunked over, the young man whiffed. And then again. And then again. But with one dunk left, the crowd rose to its, feet, the momentum reached a fevered pitch, and then ...

Well ... see for yourself below the jump.

Now, James deserves credit for being willing to be a part of the show. But if you're going to have the stones to try and dunk over "The Chosen One," you'd better be able to close the deal. In an All-Star weekend clouded by the likely lockout and missing many of its contestants, this serves as another letdown. Hopefully Saturday and Sunday night's games can redeem.
