Brook Lopez Disagrees With Rookie MVP Voters

The rookies beat the sophomores for the first time in eight years, thoroughly outpacing the Class of 2008's superior size with aggressive perimeter play. Tyreke Evans was emblematic of the rookie attack, slashing to the rim repeatedly. He finished with 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting, with six rebounds, five assists and five steals to go with it.

But fellow rook DeJuan Blair stole the show. The beast from the Big East was often the only big man on the floor for the Class of 2009, but that didn't stop him from obliterating the sophomore bigs. Blair soaked up a stunning 23 rebounds, a Rookie Challenge record, and added 22 points. In the final moments of the game, Evans was looking for Blair in the half-court, trying to get the Spur to the vaunted 20-20 line.

Apparently, Brook Lopez, who lost for like the 48th time this year, didn't agree with voters at home that Evans should be the game's MVP. He shared his disbelief with teammate-for-a-day Danilo Gallinari and then with, well, the voters at home. Check him out in the background.

I'm not exactly sure why Bro-pez wanted Blair to get it: DeJuan's performance came on Brook's watch, and an MVP would only have served as an eternal reminder that Lopez and his brethren got smoked by the kid with no ACLs. But don't worry, Brook. We'll always remember.
