Nick FolkDespite hitting on 30 of 36 field-goal attempts last season, kicker Jay Feely will apparently have to find a new home for the 2010 season. The Jets signed free agent Nick Folk Tuesday, according to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Folk, 25, was cut by the Cowboys after Week 15 of 2009, in favor of Shaun Suisham. At the time of his release, Folk had missed at least one field goal in six consecutive weeks -- he finished the season 18 of 28, a 64.3 percent clip. That after a 2008 season where Folk connected on 20 of 22 field goals, 90.9 percent.

Feely, meanwhile, was the third-most prolific kicker in the NFL during the 2009 season. His 30 field-goal makes were behind only Philadelphia's David Akers and San Diego's Nate Kaeding, each with 32, for tops in the league.

Feely did miss a pair of field goals -- from 44 and 52 yards -- in the Jets' AFC championship game loss at Indianapolis. It's still possible that the Jets could re-sign Feely, 33, and let him compete with Folk for the kicking job in training camp. But Feely will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so it's more likely that he heads elsewhere.

He still has something left in the tank, though, if last season was any indication. Feely matched a career long with a 55-yard make in Week 8, and even took on emergency punting duties during the Jets' wild-card round playoff win at Cincinnati.
