On Feb. 13, 22-year-old Bernabe Concepcion (28-3-1, 15 KOs), of Rizal, Philippines, scored a unanimous decision victory over Puerto Rican southpaw Mario Santiago (21-2-1, 14 KOs) for the right to face WBO featherweight (126 pounds) titlist, Juan Manuel Lopez (28-0, 25 KOs), of Puerto Rico perhaps in June.

Nicknamed, "The Real Deal," Concepcion (pictured at right, against Santiago) pays homage to other Filipino fighters, such as seven-division king, Manny Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KOs), and, WBA interim super flyweight (115 pounds) titlist, Nonito Donaire (23-1, 15 KOs).
