Johnny Damon Would Appreciate Your Forgiveness, Boston

When Johnny Damon played for the Boston Red Sox, he bore a striking resemblance to Jesus. But now that he has left the Yankees for the Detroit Tigers, he's hoping for Boston's forgiveness. Damon helped bring the first World Series title in 86 years to Boston back in 2004, but then left town for the bigger money and brighter lights of New York to play for the hated Yankees in 2006.

There aren't many other things you can do to get Red Sox fans to hate you more than that, but now that Damon is with the Tigers and no longer wearing those evil Yankee pinstripes, he's hoping that Red Sox fans can move on and forgive him for his indiscretion.
"I know they all hate the Yankees up there and they were mad I signed with them, but at the same time, I did what I thought was right. And, really, it ultimately worked out for them because they were able to win another championship in '07 and then I was able to win one with the Yankees last year.

"I think I've always given everything I had to the teams I played for and tried to be a good teammate and do whatever it takes to help my team win. I hope the fans recognized that in Boston and New York. I think my teammates did.

"Really, I loved what we did in Boston, bringing a championship to that city after 86 years. That was so special.''
Damon also went on to say that it was much tougher for him to leave Boston for New York than New York for Detroit, which just can not be true. I'm sorry. I don't get how leaving Boston to get paid $12 million a year to play in New York could have been tougher than sitting around for months, not getting anywhere near as much money you were hoping for, and ending up in Detroit.

After all, if Detroit was where Damon really wanted to be, then why did he spend all that time trying to play somewhere else?
