The father of Promoter, Gary Shaw, died on Thursday evening, Shaw told FanHouse late Friday morning. "My died three hours ago," wrote Gary Shaw (pictured at right), in an e-mail to FanHouse at about 1 a.m. on Friday, concerning Edward Shaw, 92. "You can write that boxing lost a great fan, and I lost my father and best friend at the same moment. I thank you for your friendship."
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, beginning at 10 a.m. East Coast Time at Jewish Memorial Chapel, 841 Allwood Road, Clifton, N.J., 07012. The phone number at the memorial chapel is 973-779-3048.
The Shaw family will be sitting Shiva, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, at the residence of Judy and Gary Shaw, located at 33 Divan Way, Wayne, N.J., 07470 In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Edward Shaw's memory to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge at http://www.rbari.org/donate.html.
