When you think Suns-Pacers, you don't necessarily think of two teams that don't like each other very much. But after Earl Watson caught Steve Nash with an elbow back in January, it appears that if nothing else, he was on the Suns' radar coming into Saturday night's rematch in Phoenix. And after a little shove that Watson gave to Channing Frye as the two made contact on a screen in the third quarter, at least in Frye's mind, it was officially on.
Frye was definitely the aggressor here, and once he returned the shove to the back of Watson's head, he appeared to throw a punch with his left hand in the direction of Danny Granger, who had come over to defend Watson.
Afterward, Frye said he didn't feel like he threw a punch, and that emotions simply got the best of him. It will be interesting to see if the league views it the same way.
If the NBA does decide to hand down a suspension of some kind, it wouldn't be the best timing for Phoenix: the Suns have five days off before hosting the Lakers next Friday.
