The Academy Awards were last night, and it was a good night for the movie The Blind Side as Sandra Bullock won the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy. Of course, the movie was based on the Michael Lewis book of the same name, and now we have some news on the latest Michael Lewis book that will soon be appearing on the big screen. The Moneyball movie has gone through quite a number of changes since the decision to turn the crazy computer and math adventures of Billy Beane and the Oakland Athletics front office into a movie, and though Brad Pitt is still playing the role of Beane and Aaron Sorkin is still writing the movie, there's been another change made. Paul DePodesta will no longer be played by Demetri Martin, but rather Jonah Hill.
ESPN's Rob Neyer talked to Michael Lewis and got this latest bit of info out of him, and I'm a bit shocked by this decision.
First of all, Jonah Hill looks as much like Paul DePodesta as I do George Clooney. They're both men, sure, but other than that the similarities end. Also, I've read Moneyball, and I don't recall DePodesta making a whole lot of masturbation and fart jokes while talking extremely loud, but maybe I missed that chapter, or it was only included in the paperback version of the book.Whatever the reason for this change is let's all just hope that Sorkin doesn't work in a DePodesta love scene. I don't think anybody wants to see that.
